Osiągnięcie wysokiego poziomu merytorycznego i metodologicznego badań naukowych, zarówno teoretycznych, jak i praktyczno-wdrożeniowych w zakresie filozofii (w szczególności na styku myśli Wschodu i Zachodu), i dzięki temu zapewnienie studentom filozofii wykształcenia umożliwiającego – poprzez uzyskaną wiedzę, umiejętności, kompetencje społeczne oraz formację duchową – rozwój osobisty i zawodowy inspirowany Ewangelią, kulturą chrześcijańską i pedagogią ignacjańską.
WIZJA
Instytut Filozofii AIK wiodącym badawczym i dydaktycznym jezuickim ośrodkiem filozoficznym w Europie, który dostarcza unikalnego wkładu w kulturę chrześcijańską w Polsce i Europie.
STRATEGIA ROZWOJU
Instytut Filozofii jest częścią Wydziału Filozoficznego AIK. Strategia Instytutu wpisuje się w strategię Wydziału, a także całej Uczelni.
CELE STRATEGICZNE
1. Rozwój i intensyfikacja wieloaspektowych badań naukowych o charakterze podstawowym (teoretycznym) oraz praktyczno-wdrożeniowym.
2. Rozwój naukowej działalności publikacyjnej krajowej i zagranicznej oraz wzrost innowacyjności i środowiskowego wpływu osiąganych wyników badawczych.
3. Umiędzynarodowienie Instytutu oraz wzrost mobilności studentów dwóch stopni studiów oraz pracowników naukowych i dydaktycznych.
4. Nowoczesne kształcenie i innowacyjna oferta dydaktyczna skierowana do studentów oraz osób niebędących studentami rozwijane w duchu unikalnego w skali kraju podejścia (pedagogii ignacjańskiej).
5. Wypracowanie atrakcyjnej oferty dla interesariuszy zewnętrznych, zarówno instytucji i organizacji świeckich, jak i religijnych, oraz wsparcie dla rozwoju kariery zawodowej studentów i absolwentów.
6. Rozwój umiejętności pracowników i studentów z zakresie popularyzacji wiedzy filozoficznej w różnych kanałach komunikacyjnych zarówno tradycyjnych, jak i elektronicznych i cyfrowych.
PROFIL BADAWCZY
Instytut jako zespół badawczy dąży do wypracowania i realizowania własnego profilu badawczego i eksperckiego, który będzie rozpoznawalny i wpływowy tak w kraju, jak i na arenie międzynarodowej. Chce stać się jednostką naukową integrującą działalność badawczą wszystkich pracowników Uczelni, którzy deklarują uprawianie dyscypliny Filozofia.
Zgodnie z misją Akademii Ignatianum w Krakowie, jako instytucji kościelnej i jezuickiej, Instytut Filozofii integruje działalność badawczą całego zespołu pracowników naukowych wokół problematyki związanej z człowiekiem. Przy tym problematyka ta jest rozumiana szeroko wraz z wszystkimi jej kontekstami i implikacjami. Stąd badania prowadzone w Instytucie wiążą zagadnienia antropologiczne z problematyką etyczną, religijną i kulturową oraz naukowo-techniczną. Aktywność naukowo-badawcza pracowników odnosi się więc do różnych aspektów pytania o człowieka oraz o wymiar jego działania i poznania, a także do współczesnych wyzwań, takich jak przemiany w nauce i technice, kulturze, religii, oraz do tego, co one implikują dla rozumienia i samorozumienia człowieka.

- dialog z tradycją (szczególnie dorobkiem filozofii klasycznej i średniowiecznej), przy równoczesnej konfrontacji ze współczesnymi ujęciami,

- rozwijanie wiedzy filozoficznej o nastawieniu mądrościowym i metafizycznym,
- poszukiwanie nieredukcyjnych rozwiązań podejmowanych problemów,

Mission
Achieving a level of substantive and methodological scientific research, both theoretical and practical-implementation in philosophy (in particular, at the intersection between the thought of the West and the East), and thus providing philosophy students with an education which enables them - through the knowledge, skills, social competences and spiritual formation obtained - to develop personally and professionally, inspired by the Gospel, Christian culture and Ignatian pedagogy.
Vision
The Institute of Philosophy of the Jesuit University Ignatianum is a leading Jesuit research and teaching philosophical centre in Europe, which provides a unique contribution to Christian culture in Poland and Europe.
Strategy for the Development of the Institute of Philosophy
The Institute of Philosophy is part of the Philosophical Faculty. The Institute's strategy is part of the Faculty's strategy, as well as that of the entire University.
Current state of affairs
Philosophy is essentially practised in six cooperating fields: Thomism, analytical philosophy, phenomenology, hermeneutics, philosophy of dialogue, and existentialism. This cooperation consists in mutual inspiration, criticism and creative continuations with special attention to a high level of methodological culture. We develop philosophical knowledge of wisdom and metaphysical attitudes, provide a creative contribution to deepening Christianity and theology, develop the ability of philosophy to interact creatively with other disciplines and fields of knowledge, critically analyse contemporary socio-cultural transformations, and strive to show the importance of philosophical reflection for everyday life.
Strategic objectives
1. Development and intensification of multifaceted, fundamental (theoretical) research and its practical implementation.
2. Development of academic publishing activities, both national and international, and increasing the innovation and environmental impact of the research results achieved.
3. Internationalisation of the Institute and the increase in the mobility of students at both BA and MA levels, as well as that of scientific and teaching staff.
4. A modern education and innovative teaching offer aimed at students and non-students alike developed in the spirit of an approach which is unique to the country (Ignatian pedagogy).
5. Developing an attractive offer to external stakeholders, both lay and religious institutions and organisations, and support for the development of the careers of students and graduates.
6. Development of the skills of employees and students in the field of the popularization of philosophical knowledge via different communication channels, both traditional and digital
Research profile of the Institute of Philosophy of the Jesuit University Ignatianum in Krakow
As a research team, the Institute seeks to work towards and implement its own research and expert profile which will attain recognition and influence at both the national level and in the international arena. It intends to become a research unit which integrates the research activities of all university employees who declare that they are practicing the discipline of philosophy.
In accordance with the mission of the Jesuit University Ignatianum in Krakow, as both a church institution and a Jesuit one, the Institute of Philosophy focuses the research activities of its entire team of scientific staff upon issues connected with man. This problem is understood extensively, along with all of its contexts and implications. Therefore, research led by the Institute combines anthropological issues with ethical, religious and cultural and scientific-technical ones. The scientific and research activities of its employees therefore refer to various aspects of the question of man and the various dimensions of his actions and cognition, as well as contemporary challenges such as changes and advances in science and technology, culture, religion, and what they imply for the understanding and self-understanding of man.
The Institute’s research profile has the following characteristics:
- a dialogue with tradition (especially classical and medieval philosophy), while confronting it with contemporary notions,
- incorporating Christian inspiration,
- making reference to the Polish contribution to European and world philosophy,
- developing philosophical knowledge of wisdom and metaphysical attitudes,
- seeking out non-reductive solutions to the tackled problems,
- developing philosophy's ability to interact creatively with other disciplines and fields of knowledge,
- critical analysis of modern socio-cultural changes,
- striving to show the significance of philosophical reflection for everyday life.
